2020 Davis Cherry Blossom Festival Online Concert
Virtual Stage
See below for updates and videos
April 2, 2020 - Today, Sudwerk is releasing the Hanami Haze, the seasonal beer planned to be released for the Davis Cherry Blossom Festival. In the spirit of the festival, Sudwerk is still donating a portion of the proceeds from the beer to our annual charity: Tsuru for Solidarity. You can order beer online and pick it up through Sudwerk's drive-through pickup here.
While we are sad to not be able to celebrate the season with you in person, we hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy and we will see you when it is safe again to do so! We hope you can enjoy the festival seasonal release, a longstanding tradition now, from the safety of home. While we are unable to meet up currently to make new content, we will be posting some videos here for anyone interested in still watching taiko at this time of year!
Stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to celebrating our resilience as a community when this has passed!

Bakuhatsu Taiko Dan presents:
KONJO (2019 Showcase at Davis Veterans Memorial Theater)
KONJO (willpower) was Bakuhatsu's last showcase held on May 4th, 2019 at the Veterans Memorial Theater. The annual showcase is a full stage production planned, managed, and performed by the students of Bakuhatsu Taiko Dan. All the kumidaiko (ensemble drumming pieces) were written by Bakuhatsu members, present or past, and this style of performance is characteristic of collegiate taiko. This showcase also features a collaborative arrangement with Nā Keiki O Hawaiʻi based on a Tongan dance rhythm (following a Hawaiian dance), an arrangement of Nanchu Soran Bushi with Rieko Ivaska (Kohaku), and an arrangement of shishimai (lion dance) with Miyo Uchida (UCD Japanese Department) and Rieko Ivaska (Kohaku).
